We were chatting today about 2018 being the Chinese Year of the Earth Dog, which promoted Erica to ask what Chinese Zodiac sign Jetpak is. We found it very interesting to learn we now have two Gold (Metal) and two Fire elements in our little family, what are the chances?!

Chinese Zodiac 2018 Year of the Earth Dog

The Chinese New Year and thus the Year of the Earth Dog starts from 16 February 2018 and ends on 4 February 4 2019.

Chinese New Years are named after a cycle of 12 animals: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. These 12 animals are also the signs of the Chinese Zodiac.

Chinese Astrology associates character traits with people born in the year of each of the Animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Relating specifically to us, we take a brief look at the Gold (Metal) Dog, Gold (Metal) Rabbit, Fire Snake, and Fire Rooster character traits.

Gold (Metal) Dog

6 February 1970 – 26 January 1971

Conservative, desirable, cautious, and always ready to help others.

Tibetans refer to this type of Chinese Zodiac Dog as the Iron Dog. Because Metal is their fixed element, this Chinese zodiac animal is a double metal sign. This can be extremely positive or negative. The Chinese Dog is already steadfast in all their convictions. By adding Metal to the chart, steadfast can turn to fanatical in the blink of an eye.

Those born in The Year of the Metal Dog adhere to only the highest moral and ethical standards. Impeccable integrity is of the utmost importance to this Chinese Zodiac Dog.

Gold (Metal) Rabbit

3 February 2011 – 22 January 2012

Kind-hearted, conservative, lively and enthusiastic.

The Metal Rabbit has a stronger emotional, mental and physical constitution than that of the other types of Chinese Rabbits. When they commit to something or someone they are inflexible and unwavering in their pursuit of both; but no one will ever be able to read these emotions on the face of a Rabbit because they’ll be smiling while they (in the nicest way possible) mow over everything and everyone standing between them and what/who they want.

Those born in The Year of the Metal Rabbit have a deep love of beauty in all its forms.

Fire Snake

18 February 1977 – 6 February 1978

Smart, insightful, communicative, active, and fond of the limelight.

Adding the element of fire to the Chinese Snake makes them dangerous, yet hard to resist. All the positive personality traits are amplified but so are all the negatives ones as well. Chinese Fire Snake people are charismatic and confident. They yearn for fame and fortune and will burn through the world in pursuit of their goals.

Those born in The Year of the Fire Snake experience extreme highs and lows. They love and despise with equal force. This Chinese Zodiac Snake is also untrusting, quick to judge and quicker to condemn.

Fire Rooster

28 January 2017 – 15 February 2018

Trustworthy, with a strong sense of responsibility.

Those for whom the Rooster sign and Fire element overlap value personal loyalty very much, always keep their word, and have a strong sense of responsibility.

Fire Roosters are rather impatient in life, always feeling that there is something missing if they don’t get things done.
